These ethics should educate people to determine right or wrong while taking decisions. Ethics is an important topic in each and every field like Computers, Education and also in bringing social awareness among people. Like how we follow ethics in our regular life in making decisions between right or wrong, we should follow the same when using technology. The Hunger Games is a film produced based off of a novel written by Suzanne Collins. The main character of the movie is Jennifer Lawrence who is Katniss Everdeen in the movie. Katniss is starring as a 16-year-old girl from District 12, which is a poor community in the movie. District 12 is the very last district and I believe they have the least amount of money. There is a game every year played by the capitol where they choose one woman and one man from every district from ages 12 to 18. Only one survives the game and the winner takes a lot of food and money back for their district. Katniss has a sister Primrose who is drawn to play for district 12, Katniss takes her place, volunteering as tribute, so that her sister can stay alive and not have to go through such awful torment through the game. Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark is the male chosen for district 12 and so Katniss and he have only each other for the most part through the rest of the movie. She uses her hunting skills to be able to exchange meat for bread or other things like yarn and household items. You can see that she has become the true guardian of her younger sister, Primrose, because of her mother going through hard trauma and depression from the father of Katniss and Primroses death. Katniss being the leader like this shows she is the dominant person in the family. They look up to her and rely on her. From the looks of their district and the understanding of their hardships with having enough food to survive shows they are in the underclass. Underclass is persistently poor and isolated from the rest of the population, which is exactly how district 12 is in the film. Social class is bigger in this film than in America, because I believe the upper class in America is very minimal, but in the movie it seems that the underclass is more minimal than the upper class and middle class. The underclass in this movie is living in relative poverty where they do not have enough money to maintain an average standard of living. Katniss is with her friend Gale Hawthorn hanging out past the district boundaries and he pulls out a roll of bread, Katniss instantly snatches it and is so excited that it is actually real bread. Gale tells her that it cost him a squirrel. In this scene we are introduced to the true poverty they live in. Not being able to have a roll the size of a hand unless you trade in a squirrel. Once Katniss goes into district 1 for the hunger games she is introduced to people in power and high ranking. These people she is surrounded by have authority and strength because of the resources they are offered being upper class. The power and authority in this film relate to today’s society in the way that America has a â€Å"ruler† and highest authorities to control everyone. In the movie President Snow and the people with power completely control the game and control the lives of the people below them. During the games they would come up with random ways to kill tributes by using a computer system. They would not let the game roll out the way they had already planned; they would add fire, frightening animals, and darkness to force the players into doing something different than planned, like they were puppets. In the every day life of these people in the film they would be controlled by men in white suites with head coverings, they were like the police in America, enforcing what the highest-powered person wants. Police are in America to keep people in the law, these people in the movie are here to make sure no one escapes their district or is going against the law as well. Life in this new world is a lot more frightening than life in America. Once the tributes all got situated, they were in a two-week training before the games. During Katniss’s evaluation she was not being paid attention to so she got frustrated and shot her bow and arrow at the apple wedged in between a cooked pigs mouth. This caught everyone’s attention, but was a secondary deviance by Katniss because it was rule-breaking behavior. The people judging her score ended up giving her an 11 out of 12 on ability to win the game, which is really good, so her deviance brought respect to her. Everyone was eventually scored on his or her ability and strength to see whom the leaders of the game thought might have a chance of winning. In this I believe it is showing social control because it is controlling peoples thoughts on who they believe will do well, when they haven’t seen with their own eyes, they are just believing people in power over them. These scores were able to bring someone’s confidence up or down, which could highly effect their outcome on them winning or not. People have to believe in themselves. In these games, the higher districts had boys and girls who had trained all year for this. They were able to eat healthy, work out and train as much as they wanted, putting their ability to win at much higher chance than someone from an underclass district. Everyone shows prestige towards these higher district contestants because they have won throughout most of the years hunger games and show intelligence. The winner of the hunger games always will make vertical mobility and will help their entire district move up in the class hierarchy. Once the games begin over half are dead within the first hour. Every moment in the game gets a little more challenging. Everyone in the games tries to win over people, who will sponsor them and help them during the game when they are starving, hurt or in danger. Katniss gets sponsors by being known as the â€Å"girl on fire† because of her clothes before the games had flames. This really intrigued the audience, which helps her in the games. Some contestants, who brought her help when she was stung by tracker jackers and fell into a sleep for two days, also liked her. This seemed to be functionalism, but instead being a society it was in relationships and individuals. This is because it was an approach maintaining interdependent parts to work together to ensure persons survival. Sponsors would do this by spending the money to send Katniss or Peeta medicine for their wounds. Once the finale of the game came, Katniss and Peeta were able to both win, which is the first time in history they have allowed two winners. They were from the same district so they would be able to share the winning prize for their district and on top of that, they were seen as lovers in the movie. This made everyone vote them to both stay alive, especially since they were the last ones standing. This is somewhat like a variable because once the situation was changed and two lovers were the last ones standing, changes were made under the different conditions. Once the game came to an end, the two winners were sent back to their homes in district 12. They received their rewards, and yet remained under power because of the inequality between districts. Although they are the victors, they will always be under power because the availability of goods in their district. District 12 is incredibly limited compared to the first districts. No matter how hard an underclass person tries over come their circumstances in this movie, they will never fully be able to escape them. The power, or District 1 and President Snow will always have the power because of the governing systems in place. The underclass will forever be poor because that is what the power wants. It is this inequality that keeps the citizens of Panem under the power’s rule.
